First step to GDPR compliance

GDPR deadline date is fast approaching with only 11 days to D day 25 May 2018.

GDPR is a regulation that increases the obligations and responsibilities for organisations and businesses in how they collect, use and protect personal data. At the centre of the new law is the requirement for organisations and businesses to be fully transparent about how they are using and safeguarding personal data, and to be able to demonstrate accountability for their data processing activities. Fines for non-compliance are substantial but reputational damage would be far worse.

The worst thing you can do is stick your head in the sand and hope all of this goes away or that there will be a last minute deadline extension.  GDPR is coming and ignorance will be no excuse.  The onus is on you to get informed and get compliant so don’t put it off any longer.

First you need to gain a basic understanding of GDPR before planning your compliance program and a key factor of your organisation’s GDPR compliance procedures is staff awareness ensuring that all staff are aware of GDPR and their responsibilities in this regard.  It is not only a recommendation but a key requirement that you roll out some form of basic GDPR awareness program for your employees as soon as possible.

If you are interested in becoming GDPR aware, here at iSkill we offer an easy to follow online course.  It provides an understanding of what the GDPR is and who it will affect. Taking this course, is the first crucial step required to begin planning your compliance program.
